Kindle 4 Release Date
The Kindle 3 has been available since the summer of 2010. So you may think that it is a little bit premature to be talking of the Kindle 4 but I do not believe this to be the case. With the rate that new hand held reading devices are being released, it is likely that we shall see a newer version of the Amazon Kindle either in late 2011 or early 2012. It would be quite easy to make an argument for either release period.
Prior to Christmas 2011 will guarantee a huge number of sales. But this could well be cutting the lifespan of the Kindle 3 a bit short. Particularly if the price of the third generation model were discounted in the run up to Christmas, this would likely ensure very strong sales. There is the option of doing both however. A reduced price on the Kindle 3, below the magical $100 barrier, while the Kindle 4 is released at a higher price. This could be the best of both worlds. I am sure we are yet to see the Kindle 3 best price.

Kindle 4 Price
The price that the Kindle 4 comes out at will be interesting. What happened before the Kindle 3 came out was that the price of the Kindle 2 was reduced. But then the 3rd generation model came out at the same price. There is nothing to say that the same must happen with a new release. As I mentioned above, it is certainly possible that Amazon could market two different versions concurrently. Of course, these could well cost a different amount of money.
A large part of the price that Amazon will be able to charge is going to be determined by the features of a future Kindle release. This is what we shall turn to just now.
Kindle 4 Screen
There are a few different options that are available for development. It is going to be exciting to see the sorts of capabilities when this new gadget becomes available for review.
Some people may be attracted by a larger screen size. This would not necessarily make it as big as the Kindle DX. A 1″ larger display may well be very appealing to many existing users. This could be traded off by getting rid of the keyboard to help reduce the size of other areas. But without a keyboard, how would we navigate our reader? A touch screen may well be able to answer this question.
Another major change could be in the form of a Kindle color screen. While I think this would be cool, I do not really know how necessary it is for me.
My Hopes
For me personally, I really hope that Amazon do not stray too far away from the current Kindle 3 design. As long as it remains a dedicated book reading device then I am sure to be happy. This is basically what I use my Kindle for just now.
I am not sure how much I would like, or use some these new features. But it will certainly be interesting to see what things Amazon plans to include in any new Kindle release. As soon as it does become available, I shall certainly be placing an order. Then I will be able to complete writing this Kindle 4 Review.
